Pricing methodology

Source and meaning

Displayed market prices are sourced from TCGplayer records associated with the card and printing variation in the PokedexWiki database. A market price is a marketplace-derived reference value. It is not a live offer, a completed-sale guarantee, or a professional appraisal.

Condition and costs

Unless a page explicitly says otherwise, values refer to raw, ungraded cards. The site does not infer a card's condition from an image and does not include grading premiums, seller fees, tax, or shipping. Actual value depends on condition, language, printing, authenticity, demand, and the terms of a particular sale.

Variation selection

• A most-expensive ranking selects the highest positive market price among the listed raw-card variations for each English card, then sorts cards from high to low.
• A cheapest ranking selects the lowest positive market price among the listed raw-card variations for each English card, then sorts cards from low to high.
• Records without a positive market price are omitted from those rankings. A page shows fewer than ten results when fewer than ten qualifying records are available.

Catalog totals

A species page's combined market-price snapshot sums available prices across the listed card variations in that catalog result. It is not a collection liquidation value and can represent multiple variations of the same underlying card. English and Japanese records are counted separately when the page provides those language counts.

Refreshes and missing data

TCGplayer groups are checked by a resumable scheduled process. Price rows are written only when a marketplace value changes, so a card-level timestamp describes the stored price change rather than every successful upstream check. Missing values are left missing rather than estimated, and a data refresh does not change the editorial review date.

Affiliate disclosure and errors

PokedexWiki may earn a commission from qualifying marketplace links at no additional cost to the buyer. The numeric selection and sorting rules above do not use commission amount. Suspected card-to-price mismatches can be reported through the corrections process.
